APCU’s NRLCA Auto Loan Payoff Sweepstakes winner is announced!

Earlier this summer, APCU announced it would pay off an APCU auto loan for one lucky winner, timed to coincide with National Convention week, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any NRLCA member applying for an APCU auto loan through August 21st was entered into the raffle for the loan pay off prize.

Today, APCU announced that Ronald B Rogers Jr. has won the contest. Ronald took out an auto loan for a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 on July 9th. Thanks to APCU, the next 53 months of payments are wiped off the books – a prize valued at over $20,000.00!

NRLCA appreciates APCU’s desire to support its members and provide a festive contest to raise spirits as we miss our annual National Convention and the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and do the important work of the union.

New Name. New Look. Same Great App.

APCU and Center Parc, a new division of APCU, have come together to unveil an enhanced Mobile App and Online Banking experience!

On Wednesday, August 19th, APCU Mobile and Internet Branch will update with:

  • A new name: CU Center
  • A refreshing new look

Why the change?

In July 2020, APCU announced an expansion into Savannah, Georgia under an affiliate brand, Center Parc Credit Union.

The new Mobile App, CU Center, is a solution that was developed after careful consideration regarding how to merge the APCU and Center Parc digital banking experience. It’s important that loyal members of APCU can continue to enjoy the Mobile Branch that they’ve come to know without disruption while also offering new Center Parc members an innovative way to bank on the go.

Will APCU members have to learn how to use a new app?

The functionality of the Mobile App and Online Banking will not change. APCU members will still enjoy the same user-friendly interface and all digital banking features and processes will remain the same. CU Center provides the exact same convenience and ease of use as the APCU Mobile Branch!

How will APCU members receive the updated app?

The APCU Mobile Branch App will update and refresh to the CU Center Mobile App on its own. No action is needed from you unless you have turned off automatic updates on your mobile device. If this is the case, please manually update your Mobile App to enjoy the new and improved app.

I’m an APCU member, but I don’t have the Mobile App or Online Banking yet. How do I sign up and download the app?

You can sign up for Online and Mobile Banking on the home page of our website by clicking "Sign Up for Internet Branch" in the Internet Branch box or via our CU Center Mobile App by clicking "Sign Up". You will be asked to complete this form.

Then, you can download the CU Center app by visiting your Apple or Google Play Store and searching for “CU Center.”

Center Parc Credit Union Announces Naming-Rights Sponsorship for Georgia State Stadium

APCU CEO Chuck Head with Georgia State University mascot at Center Parc StadiumATLANTA—Center Parc Credit Union, a division of Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU), has announced a partnership and a football stadium naming-rights sponsorship with Georgia State University.

Center Parc and Georgia State Athletics have agreed on a 15-year contract for naming rights to Georgia State Stadium, which will be called Center Parc Credit Union Stadium or “Center Parc Stadium.” With this long-term partnership, both organizations are committing to supporting growth and community engagement in Fulton County.

Georgia State Stadium, previously named Turner Field, was originally built for the 1996 Olympics and was the site of the opening and closing ceremonies as well as track and field competition. It was then converted into a ballpark for the Atlanta Braves, who played there from 1997 through 2017.

“Putting the Center Parc name on Georgia State’s football stadium is a once in a lifetime opportunity to help transform a historic part of our city,” said Chuck Head, president and CEO of Center Parc and APCU. “I grew up in this area, as did my wife and kids, so I have a strong personal resonance with this iconic sports venue. I’m proud to make Center Parc a part of the memories that will be made for generations to come.”

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We are pleased to announce that, with clearance from state government officials and implementation of social distancing guidelines, most APCU branch locations have returned to normal business hours.

Your health and safety, as well as the health and safety of our employees, is our top priority. Here are some of the precautions that we’re taking to keep you and our staff safe:

  • Additional plexiglass has been installed at our Main Office and South DeKalb to minimize potential cross contamination.
  • Stickers have been placed in lobbies to indicate directional flow of traffic in branches and six-feet intervals.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are being built and distributed to each lobby.
  • We will continue to accept appointments for services such as Member Service, Loans, and Specialized Accounts should you prefer to schedule your next visit to the branch to meet with an APCU representative. We are not accepting appointments for the teller line.

There will be some guidelines for entry into the branch lobbies. The guidelines are as follows:

  • Additional plexiglass has been installed at our Main Office and South DeKalb to minimize potential cross contamination.

  • Branches have been provided with hand sanitizer and high traffic areas in the branches will be routinely wiped down throughout the day.

  • Many of our back-office employees are now working from their homes.
  • Staff who are continuing to work from APCU offices are practicing social distancing by maintaining a 6’-8’ distance between their work and meeting areas.

Learn How to Spot Scammers

Unfortunately, scammers thrive in times of uncertainty. People may try to take advantage of your fears of COVID-19 by offering fake products, creating fake charities or coaxing you to click fraudulent links and gaining access to your personal information.

Help protect yourself by remaining aware and following these tips:

  • Be cautious of anyone attempting to prey on your emotions by using threatening messages
  • Take special note of emails containing links and never provide confidential information unless you initiated the conversation
  • Be mindful of attempts to impersonate your employer
  • Watch for bad grammar and misspellings in unsolicited emails and text messages
  • When in doubt, call back: If someone calls you claiming to be from APCU or any person requesting your personal information, hang up and call the correct number for the institution to verify legitimacy

Stay Alert: Coronavirus Stimulus Scams

Fraudsters haven’t wasted any time with scams related to the Coronavirus. In response to the federal stimulus package, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) reported that fraudsters have deployed a variety of scams involving Coronavirus stimulus checks.

There are various Coronavirus scams being attempted through text alerts, phone calls, email, and newsletters. Fraudsters may attempt to scam you into providing your account number under the pretense of direct depositing the stimulus payment to your account.

Scammers thrive in times of uncertainty, so let’s do our part to protect ourselves and our personal information.

  • It’s important to know that Government agencies do not communicate through social media outlets, such as Facebook
  • You should never pay a fee for a government grant. A government agency will never request an advanced processing fee to receive the grant
  • Coronavirus direct payments will likely be in the form of direct deposits or through U.S. Treasury checks
  • Beware of fake government agencies promoted by fraudsters. The only official list of all U.S. federal grant-making agencies can be found at www.grants.gov
