IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We are pleased to announce that, with clearance from state government officials and implementation of social distancing guidelines, we are re-opening the doors of our branch lobbies on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

Your health and safety, as well as the health and safety of our employees, is our top priority. Here are some of the precautions that we’re taking to keep you and our staff safe:

  • Additional plexiglass has been installed at our Main Office and South DeKalb to minimize potential cross contamination.
  • Stickers have been placed in lobbies to indicate directional flow of traffic in branches and six-feet intervals.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are being built and distributed to each lobby.
  • We will continue to accept appointments for services such as Member Service, Loans, and Specialized Accounts should you prefer to schedule your next visit to the branch to meet with an APCU representative. Starting May 27, we will no longer be accepting appointments for the teller line.

There will be some guidelines for entry into the branch lobbies. The guidelines are as follows:

Some branch hours changes to note:

  • The IBEW location will remain closed to members until further notice.
  • The Asheville location will return to normal operating hours (Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
  • The South DeKalb location will also return to normal operating hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM).

How We’re Responding to COVID-19

APCU has business continuity plans in place that enable us to provide the service and support you have come to depend on from your financial partner. Our Crisis Leadership team is actively monitoring the most current information pertinent to the health and well-being of our members and staff.

  • Branches have been provided with hand sanitizer and high traffic areas in the branches will be routinely wiped down throughout the day.
  • In the event an employee presents with symptoms, or has been exposed, they will be sent home and monitored.
  • Many of our back-office employees are now working from their homes.
  • Staff who are continuing to work from APCU offices are practicing social distancing by maintaining a 6’-8’ distance between their work and meeting areas.

Learn How to Spot Scammers

Unfortunately, scammers thrive in times of uncertainty. People may try to take advantage of your fears of COVID-19 by offering fake products, creating fake charities or coaxing you to click fraudulent links and gaining access to your personal information.

Help protect yourself by remaining aware and following these tips:

  • Be cautious of anyone attempting to prey on your emotions by using threatening messages
  • Take special note of emails containing links and never provide confidential information unless you initiated the conversation
  • Be mindful of attempts to impersonate your employer
  • Watch for bad grammar and misspellings in unsolicited emails and text messages
  • When in doubt, call back: If someone calls you claiming to be from APCU or any person requesting your personal information, hang up and call the correct number for the institution to verify legitimacy

Stay Alert: Coronavirus Stimulus Scams

Fraudsters haven’t wasted any time with scams related to the Coronavirus. In response to the federal stimulus package, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) reported that fraudsters have deployed a variety of scams involving Coronavirus stimulus checks.

There are various Coronavirus scams being attempted through text alerts, phone calls, email, and newsletters. Fraudsters may attempt to scam you into providing your account number under the pretense of direct depositing the stimulus payment to your account.

Scammers thrive in times of uncertainty, so let’s do our part to protect ourselves and our personal information.

  • It’s important to know that Government agencies do not communicate through social media outlets, such as Facebook
  • You should never pay a fee for a government grant. A government agency will never request an advanced processing fee to receive the grant
  • Coronavirus direct payments will likely be in the form of direct deposits or through U.S. Treasury checks
  • Beware of fake government agencies promoted by fraudsters. The only official list of all U.S. federal grant-making agencies can be found at www.grants.gov
